When the inaugural Texan Stargayzer festival was announced several months ago, I was super-curious to see how organizers would to pull off something like a 99.9% gay line-up. Then they released what can only be described as a kind of tragic ’90s rave poster to promote the event, and my enthusiasm shrunk a bit. A change of venues followed…

Looks like they blew their load on bookings because the lineup is a who’s who of queer talent: BUTT favs Big Freedia, Ssion, Mike Q, Xiu Xiu, and Honey Soundsystem (with good time buddy Mark Louque) are all set to go. Plus there’s plenty of kooky local acts, like Ben Aqua, Gretchen’s Disco Plague (with former Y’All singer Jay Byrd), and that hilarious Daniel Webb who readers will remember from The Fist Bump Heard ‘Round the World.

Of course, BUTT’s other pet peeve when it comes to festival-going is where to go when you gotta go. Stargayzer festival organizers could not be reached for comment on the toilet situation. You can always do what I do and pair up in a stall, or just piss in a bottle.

Stargayzer happens from today, Friday, 12 September through Sunday, 14 September 2014 at a former train station now known as indoor/outdoor party crash pad Pine Street Station in Austin, Texas.
