Buttheads in New York City will want to pop by the book launch of longtime BUTT contributor Paul Mpagi Sepuya at Printed Matter next Tuesday evening. Paul’s book of photos, ‘Studio Work’, is the culmination of his residency at the Studio Museum in Harlem where he created numerous portraits of himself and his buddies from 2010-2011.

Besides the straight-forward portraiture Paul is best known for, the book also includes several still lifes from the accumulation of studio-type objects like push pins, Post-it notes, manila envelopes, pencils, paper clips, bubble wrap and other office supplies one cannot live without in an artist residency.

The launch takes place Tuesday, 4 September from 5 to 7 P.M. at Printed Matter which is at 195 Tenth Avenue in NYC. More info on Paul’s website.
