The Fringe of the Fringe

This creepy YouTube clip depicting mommy's little invasion of privacy is just one of a mishmash of post-post-gay clips to be shown at 'Caught in the Act,' an evening of video screenings curated by contributor Stuart Comer as part of the Fringe Film Fest in London this weekend. Readers will recall the program he created for BUTT at Tate Modern back in 2006.

Stuart is hyper-informed, especially when it comes to queer filmmaking, and has scavenged the internet for some truly odd fragments. Anyone who has had the pleasure of dining at Stuart’s knows how the dinner party ends: with a sort of mini-marathon of perverted YouTube clips, laptops being passed around the table.

Stuart also pops by Little Joe’s Clubhouse (also part of the festival) on Saturday to present ‘Amphetamine’ a 16mm film from 1966 by Warren Sonbert in which a couple of dudes shoot up and make out. That will be just one of over 25 screenings in a bespoke viewing cabin with films picked by celluloid obsessives like John Cameron Mitchell, William E. Jones, Kevin Killian and Billy Miller.

It’s the gift that keeps on giving… For those of you that missed the screening this weekend. Stuart has provided the links to all the videos for your private home screening pleasure. Thanks Stuart!
