La Démence

Billed as the oldest and biggest gay party in Belgium, La Démence has been an institution in Brussels for years — and the most mainstream gay event you’ll find in town. Pumped-up muscle men and other circuit party enthusiasts sweat side by side on three different floors — or drop their pants in the backroom. Held at Fuse, a mostly straight club in the working class neighborhood Marolles, La Démence opens its doors at 10 p.m. and goes until noon the next day. Most club-goers who aren’t immediately heading for the next bus or train back to Antwerp, Amsterdam, Cologne, or Paris will have a quick croissant and coffee at the nearby Place du Jeu de Balle (which also hosts a daily flea market).
