San Francisco FAG MAP
Hi,
I’m Matt, your San Francisco Fag Map correspondent. I’m 29, and work as a freelance writer and editor. San Franciscans are a spoiled bunch. SF is home to more varieties of queer than hues on a rainbow flag, with a storied history that counts Harvey Milk, Justin Bond, Pat Califia, and Sylvester among its many movers and shakers. We like to have a good time too. In my four years as an off-and-on resident, I’ve had drag queens spew blood on me, danced to ridiculously good sets of vintage disco, partied with bears in heels, and capped everything off with a 3am taco. This is, as one historian called it, a ‘wide open town.’

It’s not only San Francisco where the bars close at 2 a.m., this is also true for LA. The State of California has laws wherein all bars must stop serving liquor at 2 a.m.
