Buttman Street

BUTT’s in Berlin all week, sniffing around for interesting homos and faggy stuff. We start by taking a stroll down the Buttmannstrasse (cross street Badstrasse) in the Wedding neighborhood of Berlin. You never know who you might run into. Word has it this particular street was once deemed one of the most notorious in the German capital after a series or raids and closures because of gang activity.

There’s the Buttmann’s 1A storefront which appears to be some kind of mini-casino. A little bit further down the road, you’ve got the ingeniously-named Initiative Buttmann 16 which seems to be some kind of youth center offering cooking classes, guidance counseling and a recording studio.

Eventually, we come to the doorstep of one Benjamin Spalding, an American who has found himself a nice flat on the Buttmannstrasse. He’s spending the next three months making his physical and mental well-being top priority. This includes laying off the smokes, the sweets (he’s got a ‘ravenous’ sweet tooth), and doing more yoga.
