Jan, 25, and Malte, 25, who refer to themselves as ‘just common gay guys’, study fine art at the Berlin Weissensee School of Art. There students may do a kind of artist retreat in the tiny village of Sauen, just east of the Scharmützelsee in former East Germany. One night, they went for a walk with nothing but a camera and a flashlight and came upon a clearing, a lichtung in German, of blooming bush in the forest.
